The Hymn #586 A Pilgrim and a Stranger - Gerhardt
David boasts of this in Psalm 37:25: “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”

Imputed means counted, pure and simple; justification means forgiven. |

Faith in Jesus Christ means we are forgiven and have peace with God through Christ. |
John 16:8 And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on Me;

KJV Matthew 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
I often write about the activities of denominations, especially the Lutherans, so I think about the religious meanings of this age. I divided the two categories into the spiritual and the material. These days, the material side (costumes, incense) overwhelms the spiritual.
Praying and meditating
The most powerful and least realized is prayer, because it is not limited by dungeons, cells, speaking out loud, locations, status, or anything else - and is also the most ignored or mechanical. Someone can be named from 1,000 miles away. I name each member almost every night, plus others in our circle or interest.
Faith in Christ is essential, and one involves the other. Reading and hearing about the Savior lets us dwell on the infinite divine power of the Universe. And that is not the Universe itself but we have all God has given, also with the evidence. Without hesitating - though we do - we have whatever the Good Shepherd teaches.
Studying the Bible and Luther
The Bible (KJV) and Luther are not material, but spiritual, the fruit of ancient times, going back so far that we barely grasp it - escaping the Egyptians, riding the whale rather than the ship. When we go over the Old Testament we have the Gospel filling our hearts with all the work the Spirit teaches us - the Word in the Psalms.
Our country should be stunned that so many ignore the Reformation, which was ideal in making people free through the wine (printing) press and free enough to go to new lands for freedom of religion.
Husbands and wives teach the children
This is far too late. Men are no longer writing books, and everything is being sugared up, as if knowledge does not matter anymore. Therefore, only the determined are going to be literate in 20 years. Fathers have the most leverage in being spiritual. Some will be replacing denominations with the home library, parents tutoring children because they have to do that.
Preaching and teaching the efficacious Gospel
The teaching of the Savior is 99%. What He clearly teaches in the Scriptures must be what was given to us through the Holy Spirit.
Providing Holy Communion
The Last Supper takes us back to the escape from Egypt and the freedom of the Promised Land. In this and every spiritual work, Jesus Chris is with us in every possible way.

The Hymn #52 Almighty Father, Bless the Word
KJV 1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. 10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. 13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? 14 But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
KJV Luke 5:1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. 3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. 4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. 9 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: 10 And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. 11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.
O Jesus Christ, Thou Son of the living God, who hast given us Thy holy word, and hast bountifully provided for all our temporal wants, we confess that we are unworthy of all these mercies, and that we have rather deserved punishment: But we beseech Thee, forgive us our sins, and prosper and bless us in our several callings, that by Thy strength we may be sustained and defended, now and forever, and so praise and glorify Thee eternally, Thou who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, one true God, world without end. Amen.
Nevertheless at thy Word I will Let Down the Net
KJV Luke 5:1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,
Those who have gone fishing can easily remember the sights of a river or lake, sounds, and stink of the fish, the waves slapping against the boats, the discussions about where the fish might be, the people sharing in the event, the food getting ready. In this situation, the key issue was the Word of God drawing people to Him, This one verse reminds us of the dramatic events coming up, the anguish and fears, and details of the miracle. Those who are finishing the Acts of the Apostles (Tuesday and Thursday 10 AM) recognize the vivid descriptions concerning Paul, Luke as the narrator, and key figures good and bad.
